£39bn Spending Review sets the stage for affordable housing acceleration – Bromford Flagship responds

Bromford Flagship has welcomed the government's transformational Spending Review as a pivotal moment for unlocking affordable housing, long-term regeneration and regional economic growth.
As one of England's biggest housing association housebuilders, delivering 1,770 new homes this year alone, Bromford Flagship's response demonstrates the sector's readiness to accelerate delivery in response to the Chancellor's landmark announcements.
The government's £39bn Affordable Homes Programme over the next 10 years – nearly double the previous £11.5bn investment over five years - and a 10-year CPI+1 rent settlement sends the clearest signal yet that it is backing delivery and the housing associations ready to scale it.
These commitments provide the stability and confidence needed to unlock regional opportunity and accelerate housing delivery towards the government's 1.5 million homes target.
Robert Nettleton, Chief Executive of Bromford Flagship, said: "This announcement is the clearest sign yet that housing is being treated as vital national infrastructure and should create the groundwork for faster, more place-focused delivery.
"As one of the country's biggest housing association housebuilders, with homes across central, eastern and south-west England, we're strongly positioned to demonstrate what's possible when policy meets delivery capacity.
"With nearly £4bn of investment already committed, we're ready to deliver 2,000 homes a year, half at social rent. But we're also ready to do more by working in partnership with key stakeholders to help regenerate neighbourhoods, build skills and unlock the growth this country needs.
"This is about more than housing numbers. It's about enabling people to thrive, by investing in places and potential.
"We also welcome the government's commitment to placemaking and skills development alongside housing delivery. This holistic approach – combining homes with training, apprenticeships and community investment – is exactly what's needed to unlock regional growth and ensure local people benefit directly from this unprecedented investment."
